Being a new mother comes with its peaks and valleys. One day you feel like you’re crushing it and then other days you feel like a total failure. Being a new mom in the midst of a pandemic isn’t easy. There are so many gaps in what you thought your postpartum experience would be. I was really looking forward to going to in person mom support groups, mommy and me classes, coffee dates with friends, sip and see parties. Even though I may have had these expectations it’s important to count my blessings. We are safe in our home. Our little one is healthy. We are financially stable. I’ve been relying on speaking to my therapist, reading scripture, talking to loved ones, and repeating positive affirmations to myself. Positive affirmations in particular are what I’ve spoken over myself everyday to edify my mind, body, and spirit. If you’re a new mom repeat these affirmations daily.

I am doing my best and that is all my baby needs

I help my baby to thrive and grow

I will be kind to my body and accept all it’s newness

When I allow myself to be happy, my baby will happy

I will accept my imperfections

I am the perfect mother for my baby

I choose to be patient with myself because I’m learning everyday

I will always trust my motherly instincts

I will grow and learn everyday into my new role in motherhood

I choose faith over fear and joy over worry

I am an amazing mother
